The organizers said that the new feature of the Ho Chi Minh City Orchid Festival in 2023 is an area to introduce the production and care of orchids; an area to introduce forest orchids, hybrid orchids, and ornamental plants; an area to introduce special landscapes in Ho Chi Minh City; and a nightly cultural and artistic program to serve people visiting the festival.

Mr. Vo Van Hoan, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, delivered the opening speech.

He said this is the only event for Ho Chi Minh City, which specializes in orchids, to officially return after a 4-year pause due to the impact of COVID-19.

The festival will create opportunities to connect the state, farmers, and consumers, aiming to build "civilized farmers, ecological agriculture, and modern rural areas."

“I propose that the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Department of Construction, and the Ho Chi Minh City Green Park Company... coordinate to study the project of investing, building, and developing Tao Dan Park into a theme park and flower park in Ho Chi Minh City.

Also this morning, the organizers awarded 55 orchid samples with prizes in the orchid contest. This contest has 300 orchid samples registered by gardeners and artisans.

Showcase the collection of orchid dresses

In the framework of the opening ceremony of the Ho Chi Minh City Orchid Festival this year, designer Viet Hung presented a collection of long dresses inspired by orchids.

Designer Viet Hung told Tuoi Tre Online he has one month to make a collection of orchid ao dai.

Numerous designers have attempted to replicate orchids in both art and real life. This time, Viet Hung introduced fashion themes to the beaded form, resulting in fresh and distinctive characteristics. A collection like this has never been created by a designer.
